Global Youth Service Day Events
Fort Bragg's 2010 Global Youth Service Day included these successful events!:
Watt Are You Doing This Weekend Contract Classes from Bowley Elementary and Gordon Elementary participated in this event! Classrooms signed a contract promising that the students will promote activities that reduce energy use on Friday and Saturday, April 23-24, 2010. This included avoiding video games, watching TV, walking (if possible), turning off lights, washing dishes by hand, etc.
51 students participated from Bowley Elementary and Gordon Elementary Schools!
It Ain't Easy Being Green Bowley Elementary also participated in this service-learning activity. Students designed and created an 8.5" x 11" (regular sheet of paper) mini-poster to raise awareness for people to reduce their carbon footprint and become more 'green'.
31 students participated from Bowley Elementary and Gordon Elementary Schools!
For Whom The Bell Tolls Fort Bragg Child Development Centers also participated in a service-learning project call 'For Whom The Bell Tolls'. Children in the Child Development Centers and Wonderful World for Kids rang bells to honor the fallen Soldiers from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The bell rang close to 5,340 times to honor our fallen Soldiers from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Thank you Fort Bragg Child Development Centers!
