sas logoSchool Age Services (SAS) offers care for before and after school with options for before school only or after school only. Each of these options entitles program participants to full day care services during out of school periods, excluding Federal  Holidays, during the school year. Additionally, separate SAS campsoperated during Winter and Spring breaks for those patrons who normally do not require daily before and after school care. During the summer months SAS operates a full day camp option in one-week sessions.

Our mission is to expose school-age children to a wide range of age-appropriate recreational programs that incorporate character-building concepts through activities and social interaction. School-age activities are designed to: enhance positive attitudes in learning and self development; aid children in developing proper study habits; provide children challenging activities; promote self esteem, citizenship, responsibility, cooperation, respect, fairness, fairness, trustworthiness and caring.

School Age Services offer positive experiences in four services areas:

  • Sports, Fitness and Health
  • Life Skills, Citizenship and Leadership
  • Arts, Recreation and Leisure
  • Academic Support, Mentoring and Intervention

School Age Services offer expanding opportunities through:

  • Supervised recreational and developmental appropriate activities
  • Computer Lab
  • Homework Lab
  • Education and Recreational Field Trips
  • Open Recreation Options
  • Non-competitive, physical activities
  • Enhance life skill; gain self-confidence
  • Build positive friendships
  • Volunteer Community Service
  • Supportive, well-trained staff who enjoy working with children
  • Breakfast before school, snack after school, and lunch on non-school days.
  • Transportation to and from special activities and instructional programs during the school year.
  • Adventure for a Day - Full day care for "school out" days (includes nutritional breakfast, lunch and snacks).  Spaces are limited.

*Fort Bragg SAS is nationally accredited through the National After School Association.


Registration and Fees

  • Children must be registered through CYSS before enrolling for care. Parents can register children at Central Enrollment located on the 4th floor of the Soldier Support Center.
  • Fees are based on Total Family Income, covers full day out of school programs.

Before School Care

This program offers children a safe place in the before school hours to complete unfinished homework, to hang out with friends, have breakfast, and be transported to school.

The Wonderful World for Kids (WWK) offers transportation before and after school to the following Fort Bragg schools: Bowley, Butner, McNair, Murray, Holbrook, Irwin, and Devers.  After school pick up is available off post at W.T. Brown and Benjamin Martin Elementary Schools with drop off at WWK.

After School Care

After school, the children return to the WWK or Gordon Elementary where they are provided with a snack and the opportunity to participate in the four service areas, homework assistance, and computer skill enhancement. The children arrive after school and the program ends at 6:00pm.

Fun Factory (Occasional/Hourly Care)

General Information:

  • Transportation is provided to and from the following Fort Bragg schools:
    • Bowley, Butner, McNair, Murray, Holbrook, Irwin, and Devers
    • After school pick up is available off post at W.T. Brown and Benjamin Martin Elementary Schools.
  • My child(ren) must be enrolled with Child, Youth and School Services.
  • CYS cardholders receive 8 free hours of Open Recreation!  Must be pre-registered to access 8 free hours each month.
  • Extended Care Available on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Rodriguez Child Development Center.  Reservations required in advance by calling 432-CARE or 396-1546.
  • Army Family Covenant 16 hours of free care does not apply to Fun Factory.  It can be applied to Adventure for a Day on out of school days and extended care.
  • If patrons wish to use more than 8 free hours per month, the cost for Before School is $10 a day, After School Only is $15 a day, and for Before and After School is $18 a day.  The hourly rate is $2.50 for Cat II-VI with a limit of 12 hours per month.
  • Spaces are only guaranteed if the patron has made a reservation for the date and time service is needed.
  • Reservations can be made two weeks in advance (space limited). 
  • Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance. 
  • Same day appointments for care must be made prior to 12:00pm and patrons must notify the school of pickup by SAS.
  • A minimum of 2 hour usage is required and any portion of an hour in excess of 15 minutes will be charged at one hour.
  • All School Age Services guidelines apply to Fun Factory participants.
  • Patrons must contact the elementary school to authorize SAS to pick up their child.  If no notification is made, SAS is unable to pick up the child.
  • SAS staff cannot administer medications.
  • A late pick up fee of $1.00 per minute, not to exceed $15 will be assessed if I am late picking up my child.  Late fees begin at 6:01pm for WWK and 6:16pm for Gordon.
  • Fun Factory excludes Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall Intersession Camps.
  • Kindergarten hourly care available at Rodriguez Child Development Center.

Adventure for a Day

Adventure for a day is a full day care program offered on non-school days from 8:00am-5:00pm.  Breakfast, lunch and snack are provided.  Cost is $25 per day.  Spaces are limited.

Fabulous Fridays and Super Saturdays

Reservations can be made 2 weeks prior to the AFC child care date.  

Fabulous Fridays:
SAS offers free childcare for children of deployed soldiers on specific Fridays from 7:00-10:00pm.  Call 396-4733 or 396-3936 for Reservations.  Patrons not registered through CYS Services must bring up-to-date shot records. 

Super Saturdays:

SAS offers free childcare for children of deployed and non-deployed soldiers on specific Saturdays from 10:00am-3:00pm.  Call 396-4733 or 396-3936 for Reservations.  Patrons not registered through CYS Services must bring up-to-date shot records.

National Partnerships with 4H and Boys and Girls Club

Boys and Girls Club 4 HFort Bragg's Child, Youth & School Services, School Age Services program has a partnership with Boys & Girls Club of America and 4-H Club.  Through these partnerships we commit to helping youth of all backgrounds develop leadership skills, self-esteem and character. We strive to assist all youth to become responsible citizens by providing quality cultural, social, educational, physical and recreational opportunities in neighborhood facilities, providing a safe place to learn and grow -- all while having fun.

Army Family Covenant

Army Family Covenant Discounts available for:

  • Families of Wounded Warriors and Warriors in Transition
  • Families of Fallen Warriors
  • Families of Deployed Military and DoD Civilians
  • Families of Military and DoD Civilians serving under the following orders:
    • Temporary Change of Station (TCS) and Permanent Change of Station (PCS) unaccompanied tour and Temporary Duty (TDY) status for 90-179 days.
  • Families of Deployed Soldiers as identified on the Rear Detachment and Personnel Availability Report.

Depending on the sponsor's status, Fort Bragg youth may be eligible for 16 hours of free hourly care, 20% discount on full and part-day child care, free team sports, and free SKIESUnlimited Instructional Classes.  A copy of the sponsor's orders must be on file at Central Enrollment when registering.  Current CYS pass is required.  CYS Annual Registration is FREE!
