Special Sessions & Programs:

The mission of the Fort Bragg DFMWR Soldier Performance Enhancement Program (SPEP) is to provide Soldiers an environment to heighten the physical readiness of the tactical athlete.

 

Utilizing concepts and principles found in athletic development, SPEP fosters an educational culture of training with the intent to improve performance safely and effectively.

 

 

The DFMWR Fort Bragg SPEP’s program goals:

  • Educate Soldiers in concepts and principles designed to improve injury reduction strategies
  • Heighten Soldier physical readiness through improved human performance
  • Educate Soldiers in strategies to improve APFT/APRT scores
  • Increase knowledge in safe technique, equipment usage, and program development
  • Instruct personnel in the implementation of human performance concepts into heightening the levels of  physical readiness

 


Programs

 

  Soldier Strength & Conditioning Course (SSCC): focuses on developing skills Soldiers can utilize to increase performance by emphasizing mobility, strength, restoration, and energy system development.

  • Two training tracks are offered that are designed for specific goals: Army PRT Improvement Program and Tactical Performance Program
  • Courses are unit scheduled events and last for six weeks (12 training sessions)
  • These sixty minute group training sessions are designed to enable Soldiers to improve physical fitness and functionality to a heightened level by utilizing concepts in athletic development
  • In addition to providing a first class physical training session, each session incorporates hands on instruction in proper techniques and protocols designed to increase operational development
  • Courses are conducted MW or TTH 0530, 0630, 0730, and times after 0730- 1500 per coordination with SPEP staff
  • Tactical Performance program utilizes functional strength and conditioning concepts designed to increase performance within the tactical environment above average physical fitness Army standards
  • ARMY PRT Improvement Program is designed to train personnel in improving scores on the United States Army Physical Readiness Test

0530-0630, 0730-1500 start dates per availability.  Please contact the SSCC for potential start dates.

 

SSCC Courses can be scheduled weekdays, Monday through Friday, 0500-1500.  PT Sessions are limited to 40 personnel.  Sessions can be scheduled by SPEP SSCC POC: Jared Kist, (910) 908-1832, email jared.l.kist.naf@mail.mil or jared.kist@us.army.mil.

 Single Session SSCC Training Sessions: SPEP coach led unit based scheduled single session workouts designed to introduce performance based programming (Tactical Performance)

  • Course length : 30 to 60 minutes
  • Size: 40 max personnel
  • Designed to provide a snapshot of training utilizing various modes and methods in athletic development as part of the Soldier Strength and Conditioning Course (SSCC)  Tactical Performance Training Track

Resources & Documents:

  Open Access Physical Readiness Training Sessions: Training sessions requiring no reservation or scheduling prior to attending. Workouts are designed to provide safe and efficient training session for units or individuals desiring to improve physical readiness.

  • Sessions are conducted in a Work Capacity (circuit) format with emphasis in training large groups
  • Open access sessions conducted MWF 0645-0730 and no registration/prior scheduling required.
  • Workouts will be led by SPEP staff to ensure efficiency and safety
  • First Come/ First served - first 50 Soldiers will be trained
  • Warm up begins at 0645/1200 and no access to workout past 0650 regardless of numbers

 Equipment Training Courses: Single session education courses specializing in modes of training in group settings (up to 45)

  • Sessions are conducted in:
  • Olympic lifting
  • Kettlebell Usage
  • Plyometrics
  • Agility
  • Flexibility (Dynamic & Static)
  • Energy System Development (ESD)

Equipment training sessions can be scheduled 0530- 0630, M-TH, limited availability M-TH 0630-0730, F- 0630-0730, or M-F 0730-1500. Courses are limited to 30 individuals and can be scheduled by SPEP Education POC: Rachel Quesada, (910) 908-1832 or email rachel.j.quesada.naf@mail.mil

 

 Physical Training Facilitator Course: Physical Training Facilitator Course: educational/ hands on training course designed to target individuals leading physical training and introducing concepts found in athletic development to support the physical development of Soldiers.  Course is limited to 30 personnel and held monthly.  For more information, please contact SPEP Education POC: Rachel Quesada, (910) 908-1832 or email rachel.j.quesada.naf@mail.mil

  • “Train the Trainer” Format designed support the implementation of TC- 3-22.20 Army Physical Readiness Manual
  • Course designed to educate training facilitators in specific technique, usage, basic anatomy/physiology, exercise physiology and program design in human performance
  • Courses options include: Half day, Full day,  Three Day, or Five Day Format
  • Session size limited to 30 personnel
  • Courses conducted TWTH, 0900-1200
