Smith Lake Recreation Park

Effective 20 August, the swimming area will be closed on Thursdays.

The Smith Lake 2007 swimming season ends on 3 September.

The Office will be closed on 5 September for an employee organizational day.

Smith Lake Recreation Area/Army Travel Campground:

  • $15 per night for full RV hookup (space available basis)

Smith Lake is open to the public. Reservations are not required except for camper cabins. If unreserved, cabins are rented on a first-come, first-serve basis. The park is also home to mountain bike trails, paint ball, and the riding stables facility, and the beach offers a playground for children with slides and swings, a sandy shore, and swimming area.

Smith Lake has dressing facilities, volleyball, beach pavilions for rent, and floating trampolines in the swimming area for children. Lifeguards on duty during operating hours (1000-1730); lake is only accessible when lifeguards are on duty. The snack bar is open on weekends.

Large Cabin

The campground, eight small cabins (1 double bed, 1 set of bunk beds, no running water or kitchen), and two large cabins (2 double beds, 1 set of bunk beds, running water, bath & kitchen area) are open all year. Cabins are $25 per night (small cabin) or $75 per night (large cabin), for military ID cardholders only. Cabins are air-conditioned/heated. Reservations taken up to 30 days in advance. Furnishings include beds, dining table and chairs. There is a no-pets policy for all cabins, and campers will need to provide their own bedding. NEWLY CONSTRUCTED BATH FACILIITY. DoD ID card holders only. Active duty personnel may sponsor family members.

The facility offers covered pavilions, courts for basketball and volleyball, horseshoe pits and picnic tables with barbecue grills. Bring your own food or use our snack bar. Pavilion rental for military units depend on size of unit: $100 to $350. Reservations taken for large groups. On weekends, everyone else who has paid a gate fee (which includes beach access) may use pavilions at no extra charge.


The year-round travel camp has hook-ups for recreational vehicles as well as eight small and two large rental cabins and is open to active duty personnel, military retirees and Department of Defense civilians on a space-available basis. Park office hours are Mon-Sun 8am-4pm, minus holidays during the winter season.

Mountain Bike Trails

Bike Trails are open year round. There is a beginner, intermediate, and advanced trail, which can be ridden as individual segments or all together (8 miles total). Annual passes are $20 and day passes are $5. Click here for flyer.

Paintball Adventure Sports
May thru October Hours:
Sat 10am-5pm and Sun noon-5pm
November thru April Hours:
Sat 9am- 4pm and Sun 11am-4pm.
Weekdays: By request only.
