The Smith Lake Riding Stables has more than 200 acres of land and 10 miles of designated wooded trails for horse enthusiasts. Riders often spot deer, black squirrels, and other wildlife while enjoying a relaxing horseback ride.

Trail Riding
ID Card Holders: $11 per hour
Civilians: $13 per hour
- Trail Rides are offered every hour starting at 9 am.
- Patrons must be at the stable 30 minutes prior to each ride.
- Patrons must be 8 years or older to take trail
rides.
- Rain checks are available for rides cancelled due to inclement weather.
Open Riding
Advanced riders must pass a riding test administered by a Smith Lake Riding Instructor. Advanced riders can enjoy any of the designated trails without a guide. Open Riding Test is given on Saturday at 9:00 am only. Please call to schedule the test. (910) 396-4510
ID Card Holders: $15 per hour
Civilians: $17 per hour
- A minimum of two riders is required.
- Riders must hasve at least one rider that is 18 years or older to go out Open Riding.
- One time instructional evaluation class by our instructor is mandatory. Cost $30.00.
Pony Rides
Children 7 and under: $5 per pony
Pony rental per hour: $10 per pony

Ponies may be reserved for on-post unit functions, birthday parties, etc.

Patrons are responsible for transporting ponies.
- Reservations are required for parties.
Birthday Parties
Birthday Parties: $50 for area
- Birthday party areas include 2 ponies for an hour for children 7 and under.
Riding Lessons
One-hour group sessions: $25 per lesson
One-hour private sessions: $30 per lesson
The Riding Stables offers English/Western riding lessons year round. To include Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels.

One make-up class per session is allowed.

Stables provide the horse and all equipment necessary for the classes.

Boarding Privately Owned Horses
Smith Lake Riding Stables provides boarding for horses of active duty military assigned to the Fort Bragg Area.
Boarding without paddock: $80 per month

Private owners are responsible for cleaning stalls and paddocks.

Owners must present copy of orders and health records certificate within 10 days prior to boarding. (Records include EEE, WEE, Rabies, Tetanus, Equine Influenza vaccinations and negative EIA Blood.)

Owners are required to keep health records up to date and to provide a copy for our records.

Owners are responsible for all vet services.

There is a 10-day quarantine upon arrival, horses will be released on the 11th day by the post Vet - provided one is available.
