Warrior Activity Recreational Sports (WARS) program is conducted in collaboration with the WTB, Womack ARMY Medical Center, and MWR. This Therapeutic Recreation program has been designed to meet the multiple needs of the Warrior Transition Battalion. Soldiers participate in a variety of programs, such as Spin, yoga, Wii, and aquatics for 12-weeks at a time. Some program goals are to increase endurance, strength, leisure awareness and decrease anxiety and depression symptoms. Certified staff and volunteers facilitate the programs. The Wounded Warrior Sports Program is a goal-oriented sports program for disabled Soldiers who remain on active duty sponsored by the MWR Headquarters. Soldiers selected to participate will be sent TDY to compete at state and national-level sporting events for physically disabled athletes. Funding will be provided by the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command (FMWRC). Selection standards will be set at the beginner/intermediate level in coordination with the U.S. Paralympic Committee.
